Opportunity: Trustee/Executive Committee Member
Tayside Cancer Support - Trustee/Executive Committee Member (3 Positions Available)
At Tayside Cancer Support, our aim is to offer support, valuable information and befriending for anyone affected by cancer in Tayside. We are a charity (Registered Charity Number SCO22798) currently based in the St Aidan’s Centre in Dundee and have been helping people in Tayside who are, in some way, affected by cancer since 1994.
We're looking for someone to join our team of Trustees at an exciting time for a small and agile charity. During the course of your term you will be able contribute to the development and delivery of a new strategy, support the organisation in a phase of growth and learn new skills as a governor. Ultimately, Trustees act as stewards, maintaining oversight over the legal and financial health of the organisation to ensure its continued work.
To do this you will attend the eight Executive Committee meetings a year to contribute to the strategy, oversight and promotion of the organisation, but we also ask our Trustees to give their time in supporting fundraising, attending functions and acting as ambassadors - a list of the activities expected by the role are included in the role description attached below.
Our Trustees serve terms of three years, which can be followed with a further three year term if they decide to reapply.
An induction will be provided, but we would particularly welcome candidates with skills in Marketing, Strategy and IT/Data Privacy. We would also encourage candidates who can demonstrate previous charity Trustee experience or a strong commitment to developing their understanding of good governance.
To apply for this opportunity please send a copy of your C.V. with a short supporting statement to firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get back to you within a week for an informal discussion regarding the role. If you have any further questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
The closing date for applications is 04/03/2019. This role is subject to a Trustee Declaration in line with OSCR Guidance.
