Tayside Cancer Support

A Successful Christmas Fayre!

Introduction

On the 18th of November 2023, Tayside Cancer Support popped up a stunning Christmas archway at the entrance of St Aidan’s Centre in Broughty Ferry to hold their annual Christmas Fayre.

There was such a cheerful and lively atmosphere in the hall for browsing, buying and blethers!

A Vibrant Christmas Fayre!

Despite a dull and rainy morning, our supporters were warmly welcomed by Arlene and Susan to browse the colourful stalls, spending locally whilst also helping the ongoing fundraising efforts of Tayside Cancer Support.

There was also the opportunity to relax and enjoy a hot drink with mince pie…complete with traditional tea cups and saucers!.  The pop up cafe echoed with chatter between family and friends, strengthening existing connections and nurturing the new. Ros, Cathie and the young people involved in The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative kept the kitchen running smoothly and the tea cups topped up.

We even had a meet up of two long lost school pals who brought their stalls to the Fayre!

Of course the wee ones (and not so wee ones!) had the opportunity to visit Santa in his grotto too.

Christmas Fayre Stalls

  • Country Bumpkin – a well presented array of classy gifts for this special time of year.
  • Tooshie Belle – a huge amount of hand made, colourful jewellery for all ages.
  • Maggie May Candles – luscious smelling, quality hand made candles and wax melts…think of Biscoff in a candle!
  • Coralisscraft – a wide range of artwork using sea glass, pebbles and, believe it or not…mussel shells! Driftwood creations and little festive artwork.
  • Wax by Lily – deliciously aromatic hand made wax melts, room sprays and perfumes. All painstakingly made with recycled materials.
  • CraftayK9 – beautiful quality hand made dog collars in tartan or Harris Tweed, coats & harnesses. Let’s not forget the bow ties, bandanas and the digital doggy art cards.
  • Treats for Furry Feet’s – our youngest entrepreneur offered a colourful array of festive goodies for our pets that we love to spoil at Christmas.

Of course it wouldn’t be a Christmas Fayre without the Tayside Cancer Support stalls. This included some delicious home made cake and candy the tombola lucky dip and pre loved books.  All eyes were on the delightful handmade knits for Christmas…who doesn’t love a knitted festive hat for their chocolate orange?!

A highlight was the fantastic Christmas raffle with a range of goods kindly donated by the community and local businesses. These donations highlight the strong sense of community that Tayside Cancer Support is privileged to nurture.

Essential funds raised

Even in these challenging times, we exceeded last year’s total and generated over £1600!  This is a significant sum and as always, every penny goes towards the ongoing activities of Tayside Cancer Support.

These vital activities include:
